Very sad commentary on our times . . .

Do we support abortion? No? Then why would anyone vote for abortion in this recent election - especially Catholics. Our bishops have not done a good job.

The author of "Issues for Catholic Voters, 2012 Edition" says the nation's bishops failed to communicate how essential it was to oppose the birth control mandate in President Barack Obama's healthcare law.

Catholic Advocate founder Deal Hudson says, "If this election was a referendum on the mandate, then the bishops clearly lost."

Exit polls show 50 percent of Catholic voters supported Obama while 48 percent voted for Mitt Romney, although Hudson says support for Romney was stronger among Catholics who regularly attend Mass.
