We need a good political candidate to follow this . . .

The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

How many apologies does a conservative have to make . . .?

The back lash over Rush Limbaugh's remarks regarding the faux Congressional meeting with Sandra Fluke continues to hit the headlines with liberals sincerely hoping this will finally bring the mega-star, conservative radio talk show host down and out. His advertisers are leaving in droves which puts their politics above their earnings column. The president has consoled Ms. Fluke and spoke down about Mr. Limbaugh. The whole event clearly reflects the bias against anyone conservative and the double standard in our political system. I don't recall the president consoling any conservative politicians after they were rudely insulted in the media.

Just a look back through the Internet archives shows many liberal talk show hosts using offensive language towards conservative women in politics. They get the chance to vent their nastiness, make a quick apology (maybe) the next day and it is done and over. Rush Limbaugh offered an apology twice yet the rampage goes on. No moral venue when it comes to blasting someone who speaks against the liberal agenda.

Interesting, however, about one of the advertisers . . . Carbonite. Rush has been a great supportor of Carbonite on his show. Yes, it was a paid sponsor but Rush was sincere in his commercials and if he said he used the product, you know he was truthful about it. In fact, that is one of the reasons we switched to Carbonite and have it on all our home computers. Carbonite was one of the first to jump ship in the hail storm. Turns out that Carbonite is run by someone with a left wing agenda. Also turns out that it hasn't been making money like it should over the last couple of years. In the wake of their dumping Mr. Limbaugh, the value of their stock has gone down and I imagine they are losing some of the conservative customer base. I know they lost our business.

It seems that a good businessman would keep politics out of their business. If they want to leave a show, they should do it quietly. They made an issue of it and it cost them. The same goes with the other companies that left Rush Limbaugh.  The ones on the exit list that we have used, like ProFlowers and LegalZoom, are no longer on our horizon. I don't think we are the same.

Rush Limbaugh apologized which is more than many liberals have done in speaking of conservatives. I can only think they are keeping the Rush Limbaugh fires going to bring down a person who has built an empire from the ground up . . . and they are jealous.

We have six cases of Rush Limbaugh's Two if by Tea bottled tea on our shelves. It is the drink of choice at our parties. We can't usually afford to keep that stocked up by now that we have found other alternatives to using Carbonite and ProFlowers . . .

What to do with leftover stew . . . ?

Stew always tastes better warmed up the next day, however, families don't always want stew two days in a row. I get around that concern by grooming the leftovers into an eye-catching dish which has curious children wanting to dig into it. All it takes is the time to prepare whipped potatoes!

If you have enough stew leftover to fill an oblong baking pan, that works great. If it is dinner for three or less, put the stew into a large pie pan.

Instructions:

Gentlely heat up the stew. Peel, cube, and boil potatoes in salted water until tender and prepare your whipped potatoes in your favorite fashion. Turn the oven on to 350 degrees. Fill the chosen baking dish with the stew. Top with the whipped potatoes to cover evenly. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, if you like. Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes start to brown and the stew is bubbling hot. Serve with a salad and you are a culinary genius!

The lesson here? The next time you make a pot of stew, make a big pot of stew and you have two, almost different meals ready for a hungry family. Sort of gives you a break the next day in fixing diinner, too.

Unfortunately, that describes our country today . . .
