A place to share ideas on making a comfortable home. I do it through quilting, being faithful to my Faith, and caring for my family. Being a Catholic, sewing, and baking cookies are a few of my favorite things. I'm open to discussion!

Sadly interesting . . .
A report just read by my husband stated that in the State of California, we have 40% Democrats, 20% Independents, and 19% Republicans. The percentage of Catholics in California is 32%. That means that every time a vote goes to abortion or other causes that are not in line with the Catholic Church, many Catholics could be voting against the moral values of the Catholic Church.
Coming down to the wire . . .
This is the final Sunday before the elections. So far, in our diocese, we've heard little in defence of our religious freedoms from our hierarchy. We seem to be a 'social justice' kind of diocese more than a Pro Life all the time and every time diocese. Little word on opposing the Mandate. Yes, we have groups who work hard and long for the rights of the unborn and to support our religious freedoms but the real help isn't always forthcoming from the shepherds. It was heartening, however, to hear from so many other stalwart dioceses who are taking a firm and newsworthy stance on the subject regardless of the adverse press from the liberal journalists who only report one side of the story. This one caught my eye and made me wish that every cardinal, bishop, and priest would be so forthright on the subject.
“By virtue of your vow of obedience to me as your Bishop, I require that this letter be personally read by each celebrating priest at each Weekend Mass,” Bishop Daniel Jenky wrote in a letter circulated to clergy in the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.
In the letter, Jenky cautions parishioners that Obama and a majority of U.S. senators will not reconsider the mandate that would require employers, including religious groups, to provide free birth control coverage in their health care plans. “This assault upon our religious freedom is simply without precedent in the American political and legal system,” Jenky wrote.
“Today, Catholic politicians, bureaucrats, and their electoral supporters who callously enable the destruction of innocent human life in the womb also thereby reject Jesus as their Lord,” Jenky added. “They are objectively guilty of grave sin.”
