Easing our way toward payday . . .

Payday is next week and I'm trying to live 'out of the cupboard' until then. I have some money set aside for emergencies but am trying to see that buying food is not considered one! I went through the freezer today and discovered three chicken thighs and a container of chicken soup I saved from another meal. My husband claims that all our meals are related from the first day we got married. Initially, I thought about making cream of chicken soup with the diced chicken thighs and lots of vegetables and potatoes to stretch it out. Then I remembered the new baking dishes we found on sale a week or so ago. I figured that if I was going to thicken up the broth for a cream soup, I might as well make a crust and have chicken pot pies. My children were very happy and the cats, who got some leftovers, gave it two paws up.

Cutting and pinning a quilt . . .

I got busy actually putting together some quilt tops I had stored away. I had enough backing fabric for two of them and, so far, this is rather a favorite. I like to do quilts with a picture/story quality and this one depicts the many facets of a world view. I laid out the overall quilt on the lower left side of the picture and did some close ups of the pieced squares that comprise the quilt.

Cookie Baking!

My husband needed a snack for a meeting today so that gave me an excuse to bake cookies! The fact that there were enough leftovers for two of my children currently at home, was a plus in their eyes. I didn't have time to fuss so went with Chocolate Chip and a Granola-Oatmeal cookie.

I have several Chocolate Chip recipes that I like but always seem to come back to the one I used, yesterday. It never fails and always tastes like it came from a bakery . . . only better. The Granola-Oatmeal were a first-time recipe but a keeper. Besides the granola and oatmeal, I added walnuts, dried cherries, and dried cranberries along with some grated orange zest. Didn't get any complaints on either recipe offering.

I'll try and get the recipes listed on the blog but if it slips my mind, just ask!

Not everyone is a Catholic with a capital letter 'c' . . .

If you want to keep ahead and in the know about how our country and the world are dealing with people, Catholic Family and Human Rights Institude is the place to go for information. Today, in part, here is something they reported that is, as usual, the beginning of more abuse against women and children not to mention families and the future.

Melinda Gates, perhaps the richest Catholic woman in the world, is going to spend billions of dollars to get hundreds of millions of poor women to shoot drugs into their bodies to stop them from having babies. She says it is what they want. She says it is what we need.

A senior advisor to the UN Population Fund said last week "for sustainable development, it quite simply matters how many people there are..."

A large portion of the globe is now suffering from what is called "demographic winter." Countries are not having enough babies to support their ever shrinking economies. A generational war is breaking out over governmental resources!

Didn't we already drive a stake through the heart of this heartless ideology that people are a kind of contagion that must be stamped out? Didn't we already win this argument that population control is quite simply evil? Literally anti-human?

But here we are in 2012 having to have it all over again!

For one thing, there is no such thing as global warming or overpopulation. To devalue humans in an effort to promote the 'needs' of the environment puts human beings on a level below rocks and dirt. Rocks, dirt, and trees do not raise families. People raise familes and increase the productivity of the world. Trees don't come up with innovations. People do but if the trees get first crack at survival, all you have is a tree and no one to enjoy or employ it's usefulness.

As fast as we hear about the side effects of all the new and even more improved methods of killing off babies, we get reports like the above one about how they want to force this evil medicine on uneducated, poor people. Why is a plant, rodent, or whale given preferential treatment and humans considered garbage.

I hate to break it to Ms. Gates but she may be the richest woman in the world but not the richest Catholic woman. The moment she opened her wallet to ensure the advancement of the above-mentioned 'demographic winter' in the world, she excommunicated herself. I'm waiting for her pastor, bishop, cardinal to speak out against her proposal and let the world know that her use of Catholic isn't in line with what a Catholic should be. I'd hate to be any clergy who let this go by unmentioned. What would God have to say come Judgment Day to someone who knowingly gave Communion to a person who uses the same mouth to advance the ultimate demise of people?
