Pope Benedict XVI . . .

Pope Benedict XVI's message to U.S. Bishops:
"It is imperative that the entire Catholic community in the United States come to realize the grave threats to the Church's public moral witness presented by a radical secularism which finds increasing expression in the political and cultural spheres."

Unfortunately, too many Catholics didn't find it a problem to bring the politicians into office who would do such a thing to us. We have to pray that all Catholics, bishops, priests, and religious who voted an anti-life president into office, have a sincere change of heart and direction come the 2012 election.

The Cat Saga Continues . . .

We are still trying to befriend the three, stray cats that come to our door regularly for a hand out. They don't mind coming into the house a bit or eating any food we put out but petting them is still against their personal agenda. Sure, we 'grab' a pat on their head or stroke their back but they object most firmly, jump back in indignation, shake themselves, and then go back for the food.

The other morning, I was late in putting out some kibble for them and I had a demanding trio on the doorstep. I opened the door and they all streamed in and raced into three areas of the house as if that would hurry up my feeding chores. I finally got bowls of food set out on the step for them and they exited for breakfast. As I was closing the door, I saw that Stubby was still in the middle of the living room. He is a fluff ball of gray and white fur with huge yellow eyes. The eyes grew even bigger as he realized that his wayout was blocked by the big person in charge of the kibble bag. He seemed to all but throw up his front paws in shock as he dithered about what he could do to cure the situation. I stepped back and he crouched down and scuttled out quickly. I quietly closed the door and heard the cat munching increase to the usual three-fold!

Stubby got his name because he seemed to feel that if he crouched as low as he could while skittering along the sidewalk, we might not notice him. It was a few days before we saw that he was entirely normal, physically, if not a bit paranoid about the world around him.

Research you donations . . .

We try to be generous with our blessings but we always research any charities we consider to make sure that more of the funds go to the purpose of the cause than to administration. For years, we have seen the world almost literally plastered with the Komen pink ribbons yet how many realized, until recently, that the organization was funding Planned Parenthood. If you are in favor of Planned Parenthood's abortion agenda, then that is not a problem for you. As practicing Catholics, we prefer to abide by the Church and not be a  apart of aborting babies by a single cent if we can help it.

Along with the uproar over Komen's back and forth over funding of Planned Parenthood, it also came into clearer light that the organization had also been funding embryonic research! I have read, however, that they are now edging away from that but not because it canabalizes our unborn but because it hasn't shown promise in the fight against breast cancer. The source, aborted babies, didn't come into their decision.

It is a sad world that a group primarily set up for the benefit of women is using the hard-earned cash of women and families to destroy future generations in the guise of help.

I do not feel sorry for the mess the Komen Foundation has made of things with their weak defense and then retreat over the Planned Parenthood funding. An organization with strong convictions stands with convictions no matter what. This wavering and then reversal wasn't impressive. It certainly highlights all that pink wash of ribbons you see everywhere in a more negative light.

I would truly like to support an organization that was totally for women and their needs and that didn't need the help/support of any that feed on our unborn in barbaric ways.

Why we should never stop learning . . .

In times of profound change, the learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.
