The elderly cat that has come to stay . . .

The old orange cat still haunts our doorstep but exhibits much energy if the front door is left unguarded. One time, I raced into the house, shut the door, and turn to find the cat already behind me inside the house. The first picture was the attitude I got when I kindly asked him to exit the house. I caught the old guy sleeping on our window sill this morning. Not to worry, he get a meal twice a day because we have soft hearts and equally soft heads!

The cat's favorite ploy to avoid dismissal from the house is to flop down on his side and go limp. No amount of prodding or persuasion will budge the old fellow. Yesterday, my son ended up sliding him across the kitchen floor, rolling him up on the the entry way step, and then 'pouring' him over the entry way to the porch. The cat never gets angry. He just looks miffed and you can see him recycling his thoughts on how to beat us at the game next chance he gets.

Albert Einstein was a smart guy . . .!

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former.

Great description of music . . .

Music washes away from the soul
the dust of everyday life.
- Berthold Auerbach

Causes one a reflective moment . . .

Where is the Life we have lost in living? Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?
- T. S. Eliot

Horses . . .

I'm not a fan or horses but my daughter requested one for a friend and I actually enjoyed tackling the fabric and dealing with a horse print, too. It is another one on my pending completion pile and I hope to put it on the road to 'doneness' soon.

Finishing up quilts . . .

Yesterday, I went through my quilt tops and made plans to finally get them all finished before I begin any new projects. I tend to enjoy the designing stage more than the finishing aspects. This print is one of my favorites and I've made two or three quilts using it. The colors are so bright and varied that you can use a variety of borders and it will emphasize a different aspect of the print depending on the chosen color.

How Dinner Came to be . . .

Since we found a great Asian market that carries all the ingredients we need for special recipes, we decided to have a weekend of Chinese food. Last night, it was Spicy Chicken Thighs, Sweet Potatoes with Soy Sauce/Ginger, with Jasmine Rice. I've discovered, over the years, that cooking Asian food is relatively simple if you get all your ingredients chopped, diced, and at hand before you start cooking. Nothing worse than to watch your meat or vegetables overcook while you quickly locate a forgotten item and try to chop it quickly. As you can see, I plan ahead these days.
