There seem to be more sales on apples, lately. From what I understand, last Fall's apples are often kept in deep refrigeration in order to supply the stores during the year. I suppose, if this is true, they are probably trying to get last year's crop sold out as this year's begins to ripen. Anyway, as always, I take advantage of sales in order to stretch the food budget so apple cake was on the menu, yesterday. This link has a very good one that combines the flavor of cake with apples.

Although we have cut back drastically on our consumption of sweets, we do splurge every weekend with something special that allows us each a nice serving. This was such a cake. Yes, there are leftovers but just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth for breakfast.
