Summer is ending in the garden . . .

Even though the higher temperatures are still with us, the garden tells the real story of the seasons even in California. The tomatoes are still appearing on the plants but more slowly now. The red of the fruit is a contrast to the drying leaves and stems of the plants.

Since California is known for its citrus, we do have a renewal of sorts going on as the oranges are slowly turning golden and the lemons are beginning to ripen.

We have a few chili pepper plants and the long, crimson fruit is drying on the plant which is what we want as we can let the sun preserve them for us and we just have to bag them and use them over the next few months.
