Cheese was on sale and I had a coupon, too. Pizza graced our dinner table this evening much to the delight of my children. I made the usual sausage/cheese/olive/pepper pizza for them - only peppers on half of the pizza as one of them is quite as adventuresome. The other pizza, taking it's turn in the oven right now is fresh cheese, fresh Basil, peppers, and olives. I don't like meat on my pizza and the other half of it will make a good Friday lunch for my husband tomorrow.
I'm always amazed and pleased at how inexpensive it is to make a pizza at home. Crust for two, large ones took only two cups of flour, salt, and water. As I said, I found a sale and a coupon for the cheese. My husband grows Basil in the backyard for just such an occasion. The peppers in the picture are all that I needed for the two pizzas along with one can of black olives which I chopped myself to save the cost of paying more for the chopped ones.
We all like a 'fast-food' treat but it tastes better if I come up with our own version at home. Saves money, too!
