Speaking of bananas . . .
While on the subject of bananas, we have been edging slightly off our usual healthy diet with banana pudding! Although you can make vanilla pudding from scratch, a boxed mix would work as well. It is a soothing, cool ending to a hot and miserably humid summer day!
Before you start the pudding, you slice up two or three bananas into slices and toss with the juice of one lemon and a quarter cup of granulated sugar. Set aside while you prepare the pudding of your choice. Once the pudding is cooked, let it sit for 15minutes and then layer it in a nice bowl, alternating with the banana slices. The best way to top it, to my mind, is with whipped cream. To prevent your homemade whipped cream from 'fading' away, whip it with a couple tablespoons of sour cream along with the sugar and vanilla extract. Made this way, the whipped cream lasts several edible days in the refrigerator.

The Computer ate my homework . . .
Two of my children (age 15 and 21) are doing a summer project and making a totally obscure, weird, silly, nonsense movie together. My son is starring in all the roles which has my daughter running from side to side to make it look like he is actually talking to his 'other persona'. With a few pointers from my media major daughter, who is away at college, I'm in charge of putting the film together and editing. I'm learning as I go along so there have been some interesting interludes!
About 30 minutes of work gave us eight minutes of film yesterday. Actually, that is quite a bit for one session. My husband kindly got it uploaded into the movie maker prgram, I viewed the clips this morning, and when I was ready to work with them, they had disappeared. Yeah, we still have them on a disc but WHERE did the uploaded ones go? I just know they are lurking behind something else. I found a few audio clips in places they shouldn't be today so have hopes the video ones will give themselves away next time I enter the program.
We didn't have time to take video footage of our nearest and dearest friends but did have lots of photos taken after Mass the last few Sundays. I managed to work with that and they are also starring in a film they don't know is going down. If I provide snacks for the viewing, they might not hate us TOO much!

Uninformed . . .?
I had an odd experience this morning. I had just exited morning Mass and Adoration when another attendee approached me. She said she was trying to get people to come say the Rosary one day a week at the local abortion clinic. I said that we did pray for an end to abortion especially with the president we currently have in the White House. The woman immediately reared up and said, "We won't go into THAT now, but I respect and admire the present we now have in the White House." I said that since obama had taken office, he had lifted all the bans on abortion that President Bush had set in place so MORE babies are being killed than when President Bush was in the White House.
The woman said that she didn't believe that was all true about obama and abortion. She also said that some number or the other of babies were aborted last year and THEY weren't obama's fault. I said a president can't overturn Roe v. Wade so they weren't President Bush's fault, either. She dismissed that statement as it didn't fit into her brain washed mind set.
The whole interlude left me shaking in disbelief. Now, I know there are liberal 'catholics' like that but it was my first, face-to-face encounter. I just couldn't figure out how she could be aware of the abortion issue and not have the intelligence to check out the facts regarding obama's take on the matter. I guess I'm finally getting a glimpse into how the Catholic vote pushed the current administration into place for our country.
Guess I will have to avoid this woman in the future because I'm pretty sure that slapping sense into people is probably against the law! : - ) How anyone can be against abortion but support the current source of advancing abortion policy is beyond me. The woman should be ashamed of herself but, instead, she is a smug patriot . . . while babies continue to die on HER watch.

Something in common . . .
It is interesting to note likenesses in people's personality, background, or . . . beliefs. I checked out our California governor, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden, obama, Sotomayer . . .
Two of them (Boxer & Feinstein) are Jewish to some degree or the other.
Four of them (Schwarzenegger, Pelosi, Biden & Sotomayer) are Catholic.
One of them doesn't seem to have a definite stance (obama) but claims to be Christian.
The first common factor is that they all claim to believe in God. However, they have absolutely no fear of God. The idea of punishment in the after life is definitely not a factor in their decisions.
The second common thought is that all the women listed are adamant feminists who have no regard for their God-given gift of being a woman. Biden and obama probably superficially agree to the feminist mentality in order to stay firmly in the political arena. A REAL man would not want a woman to leave behind her fmininity in order to act like a man.
The third commonatlity is their ongoing battle to see that every child in the womb can tremble lest they face tha abortionist's knife. This stance goes against the feminist agenda as at least half of the unborn babies are female so where are they in the feminist agenda?
The fourth like attribute shared is their love of government intervention and power because how else can they keep all their idealogies alive and kicking.
Their fifth common trait is their insincere desire for tolerance because IF it was sincere, EVERYONE would have a say but they SINCERELY wish to keep quiet the voices of Godliness, Faith, Conservatism, Families, Motherhood, Morality, and Democracy as they pursue their personal, selfish, agendas.
I think the reason these people got into positions of power is because people today do not like discipline and prefer to pick and chose their ultimate stance on values. If they ignore certain morals or values in their personal life, they are apt to overlook them in a political candidate. The caferteria catholic crowd certainly prooved this in the last election as 49% of the Catholic vote went to enthrone our current administration. Another stupid quote for the history files came from a woman at the Notre Dame graduation when she said that she supported obama and she supported Pro-Life. That was enough for the reporter as he quickly cut away before this woman's warped thought could be analyzed for correctness.
We are now seeing a lot of legislation going through the House and Senate fast and furiously. I think the president wants to rush things before people start to wake up to the major problem brewing in the White House.
The more I listen and observe, the more I feel that no one in power actually cares about solving the unemployment problem or fixing the economy. They know they have the world exactly where they want it right now - under their control.
Judgement Day is going to be interesting - not only for the wayward politician but the voters who either thinkingly or unthinkingly put them in charge.

The worst quote in HISTORY!

This quote saddens me because it doesn't make any sense yet so many people have taken it up as a battle cry. If we are the greatest nation in the world, aren't we on the right track? Why would we need to change? Unfortunately, the last few months have shown what unthought out change can do to a country. Makes me wonder what the future will hold and whether writing down my thoughts like this would eventually be a punishable crime.
